This Team’s responsibility is to review and oversee three areas in the life of the St Hilda’s congregations:
- Personal Prayer;
- Public Gatherings; and
- Personal Study.
The Triple P Team has a theme and a Bible verse for each area:
Personal Prayer – Deepening our personal relationship with God
Ephesians 6:18 – Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.
Public gatherings – Encourage, equip, and bear testimony in each corporate gathering
Hebrews 10:24-25 – Let us consider how to stir one another up to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as we see the day approaching.
Personal study – Promote growth in personal sanctification
Psalm 1:1-2; 2 Peter 3:18 – Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scoffers, but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night; But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity.
The Team meets every two months to analyse, learn, discover, review any feedback, concerns, issues on the three areas, and make firm recommendations to Parish Council on ways that the spiritual lives of our congregations might grow to be more like Jesus.
Some of the issues we have discussed since our formation in 2014 are: identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities of our three task areas; prayer diaries at Lent and Advent; a monthly prayer diary; training in the public reading of the Bible; interviewing people about challenges in their lives and Christian service; having people available to pray with after services; changing morning service times; encouraging family Bible reading and prayer; improving sight of output to the video screen by mounting a TV screen; promoting the ‘verse of the month’ in services; making more efficient use of the ‘worship area’ space; organising a session for service leaders to share encouragements and discuss methods; encouraging the ‘notices’ to be prayer focussed and not just information sharing; encouraging specific before-service prayers with all up-front participants.
