The writer to the Hebrews tells us: Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
The Discipleship Team came up with the idea of “Guess Who’s Coming to Lunch” to help build a sense of belonging to the family at St Hilda’s. As the church grows bigger it is harder to get to know one another and it’s harder to get a sense of belonging. Sharing a meal with other church members who we don’t know well is a great way to get to know others, especially if they attend at a different time.
“Guess Who’s Coming to Lunch” will be organised 3 times a year, around the other St. Hilda’s activities, and we encourage members to invite people to lunch on other days as well.
Since starting “Guess Who’s Coming to Lunch” it is clear that church members are keen to offer hospitality, and there are always more people wanting to be host that guests to go around. For this reason we would love to see you inviting people yourselves if you would prefer to be a host, especially if you can find people that haven’t managed to put their name down as guests, including new comers. It would be a great encouragement to the team to know you are inviting people.
If you would like to participate in the next lunch, please fill in the form below, and we will contact you with any arrangements.
