It was John Lennon who once sang, ‘Life is what happens to you when you are busy making other plans’, and I think he’s right in suggesting busyness can rob us of the enjoyment of the moment and, indeed, maybe rob us of life.
As we farewell 2019 and look to all the hopes and dreams of the coming year, we can do it in the knowledge that the Lord of life has his plans and purposes for us in the days to come, plans that will ultimately be fulfilled in eternity. If we can live each day with that kind of perspective, we will live with a freedom that only the children of the Lord of life have.
Life becomes more than wishing and hoping and planning for the future – the Lord has our future in hand, we can live each day in the light of his love and live it to his glory and honour.
These days it’s trendy to be ‘mindful’, to live in the moment. If we live each moment aware of God’s preserving care and protection, we are free to love and care for others as he wants us to.
May the Lord enable you, in the life that happens to you each day, to make the most of the opportunities he gives you to live to his praise and glory.

Ray Robinson

“And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.”

(Philippians 1:9–11)
